Shingdig 2001 Update....

Well for all of you that didn't go on the rally last
weekend... (and that's everyone except for ted and
I)...
It was great.... it was easily the best rally of the
year!!

Things started off kinda slow on friday night:

Ted and I were riding down from oaktown... we got all
the way to San Leandro and my rear tire blew out...
major bummer... after going to a bike shop to get a
quick fix, we proceeded to put the tire back on my
scoot, but then the tube broke again.. so I was off to
bart to get the rack of death... (lesson learned....
always check rims for rust on a new scooter) well
three hours later I was in San Jose with scoot on
roof. After ted and I unloaded my p, it was off to
Full Frontal Josh's to meet up with him and all the
P-towners that were arriving. We went out for eats...
then drinks... and more people showed up as time went
on... I'd say there were about twenty scoots on
friday.

Saturday morning rolled up soon, as we didn't get in
until about 2am the night before... still kinda groggy
and needing a cup of coffee, we headed for a breakfast
joint, where we met up for a long ride into those
hills north of santa cruz and below Half Moon Bay...
There were two rides... one for slow scoots, and one
for the faster ones... If you know me, you know which
one I went on... it was fast and with many turns...
and my red P was doing great... (wheelies are higher
and longer lasting on the red P) No real notable
events happened on the ride except for the broken tail
pipe of some guy from p-town, you wouldn't believe how
incredibly loud a SIP pipe is when it breaks in
half... it was lounder than any motorcycle or motor
for that matter than I have ever heard.

Anyway we proceeded to the Trials Bar (an english type
pub in downtown) Beer was expensive and the food
portions were tiny for the price... but it was a nice
rest after a long ride. After a few beers it was time
for Gymkhana... The gymkhana was pretty standard, but
the antics started up... and the contest was never
really completed... technically Chopper Josh won it
(he went through the course twices, perfectly, but
other notable riders were Coastal Pete from (??) (he
did the course with two other people on his scoot) and
crippled Mike from p-town, he demolished the course
with his golfclub walking stick whilst riding his
lambretta.
The raffle soon took place after the antics in the
parking lot, and it was a pretty good raffle, most
people won stuff... and there was alotta stuff to go
around.

After all this we all went on a ride to find some
eats... and the one and only accident of the rally
happened... As I was following P-town Patrick on his
small frame.... his rear tire fell off!!!! I swerved
to avoid missing him, and he seemed to be keeping the
bike up as I passed him, but then as I looked back I
saw a big pile stacked up in the middle of the road...
Corina from p-town wasn't as lucky as me, and ran into
the broken scooter, and messed up her ancle pretty
good. She was walking the next day, (with alotta
pain), but it could have been much worse.

Later that evening we went for a night ride to the
show... in which Dread Zepplin was booked. Josh went
all out on this rally, it was really first class! The
band was great and when it was all said and done at
the bar, we moved on the the San Jose Scooter House of
Chopper Josh and Mike (with the red P and sterio, and
air horns). On the way, one of the P-town guys stopped
to see if some damsel in distress needed any help, and
before he could say "do you need any" (he didn't have
time to say help), the crack whore was on the back of
his scooter (with no helmet mind you). We were all
drinking a bunch and one thing led to another and
before I knew it it was about 2:00 and the girl was
still at the bar. With video camera in hand Ted
proceeded to get primo coverage of what this high
class women had to say. I think she lifted her top
about five times, then the grand finally came at about
3:00am, she reached into her britches and pulled out
some substance and placed it on the bar... we were all
thoroughly grossed out and getting tired by this time.
So it was decided that we should all leave and find
shelter for the night. Some people put thier money
togther to pay for a cab to get the girl home, but
Coastal Pete insisted that he would give her a ride
home... no one saw pete again until morning, and pete
says he had to go to two places before finding some
people that would let her in... but anyway... it was a
crazy night...

After sleeping for a few hours it was time for the
sunday scavenger hunt.... I'll keep this short since
I've been a little long winded... but let me just say
there was a lot of nudity and illegal antics going
on.... I think the most lewd item was the photo of
Lawrence (from SJ) making a dragonfly (one of the
items on the list) out of his penis and a bunch of
wrist watches...

One of the more illegal acts was riding through the
water fountains in downtown San Jose hoping that a cop
didn't pass by at any moment (san jose if heavily
patrolled)

Well after the scavenger hunt, it was back to the
scooter house for more drinking, barbeque and
antics... Some notable activities included the Baby
Powder fight, followed closly by the mustard and
toothpaste fight. then there were the contests...
toothpaste in the butt squeezing contest (a brainchild
of full frontal josh), Wet Boxer coontest (Lawrence
from SJ was a wild man... showing up in a thong which
josh proceeded to man handle... it was truely nasty,
culminating in josh riding lawrence shoving his face
in the dirt), the Wet t-shirt contest followed and
there were quite a few contestants... well more
drinking continued until the wee hours of the
morning...

The next day was started with breakfast provided by
the DSSC at thier headquarters. It was pretty laid
back, good eats and most of the P-towners said thier
goodbye's at this time... (they had a long drive ahead
of them)So after eating we all set out for Mt.
Hamilton. As soon as we got to the mountain, Ted's
third gear didn't seem to be working so he and I
waited for the support vehicle, they seemed to have
things under control, so I left and proceeded on the
ride. I was all alone on the road since everyone else
(except for the few that were loading ted's bike) had
proceeed on wihtout me. I was having fun racing along
(there were 360 turns in the 18 mile stretch of road
that winded to the top of mt. hamilton). Then Juggie
(Mike) from the tops passed me while I was putting my
spark plug cap back on... (I broke down for a second),
he locked up his rear tire and skidded past me, and by
the time he turned around, I was ready to go. Well...
let me say this: that was the fastest riding I had
ever done trying to keep up with him (he races p200's)
it was great fun. Anyway we got to the top of the
mountain, took a tour of the telescope up there and
proceeded back to San Jose to Ice Cream and Pizza, and
the rally was done...
